Welcome to Altura Gardens and Wildlife Park

Altura Park is situated amongst limestone formations just 4 kms from the famous Waitomo Caves. The Park was first opened to the public in 2000. More about us here.

After a friendly greeting when you enter the park you can mingle and interact with the friendly ducks, emu, deer, chooks, goats, rabbits, donkeys, mini horses, blue tongued lizard and more.

There is loads of room for picnics, weddings, birthday parties, family and friends getting together etc. There are pony rides for children on our pony Honey and a playground.

Other birds and animals in the park include Scottish Highland cattle, llamas, ostrich, a fantastic selection of pheasants and parrots, goats, swans and peacocks. Visitors can also venture inside the large landscaped nocturnal Owl house.

Snacks and refreshments are available.  Morning, afternoon teas and picnic lunches can be provided by prior arrangement for group bookings.  We also have crafts and souvenirs.
